One Week

So today marks one week of this little experiment.  As usual, I started out with a bang and quickly fizzled out.  Now, don't be alarmed.  I haven't stuffed my face with a box of cupcakes or anything.  On the contrary, I've actually done pretty well in the food department.  But here's the thing:  that little spark of excitement has already started to fade inside of me.

My issue, like with a lot of things in my life, is staying focused after the "new" wears off.  I have to constantly remind myself that this life-long struggle is not going to be fixed overnight.  God is just getting started because I am finally allowing Him to get started.  Some days most days, this process is not going to be fun or exciting.  Pray for me as I learn how to keep going when I want to stop.

I want to know:  What do you do when you want to quit?

  1. Oh, Celeste, when the honeymoon is over, I usually quit. That is why my marriage (at 4.5 years) is the longest relationship, by far, that I've ever been in. And sometimes I get a resentment at the honeymoon being over in the marriage, but I refuse to quit this time.

As for other things, like eating right, exercising, or projects, I am still pretty much a quitter. That I why I was so excited that you started this blog. I was hoping to see it all from a new perspective.

Hmmm... I just remembered, I'm doing an online project with a bunch of ladies called "30 Days of Lists" (you can see it on my blog - there is a tab at the top). We are on Day 18, and so far I haven't quit. I really thought I would have dropped it by now. I haven't missed a day and had to catch up. I just get up every morning and write out whatever the list is for that day. There isn't anything else required, which is good, but it is still amazing that I'm even doing it. So maybe even if it is just a little thing - just maybe I'm turning a corner. I hope.

I am rooting for you and praying for you to keep your eyes focused on God in this. I'm praying for that for myself as well.

  2. I agree with you excitement quickly fades for me too when I don't get immediate results. I love crafting, but if it's goin to take me more then an hr to finish it...I won't finish it. When it comes to eating healthy and exercising...woof...I lose that excitement even faster! However, I guess the thing that keeps me going past the "excitement" stage is results. Seeing results. If my craft project is stretching out to be 2 hours, but it's looking fabulous and I can see I have made great progress...I can keep pushing on. So I guess that's my suggestion for you. You WILL see results so use those moments to keep your excitement going! Celebrate each little "WIN" wether that's not shoving your face with donuts when you have the urge (lol) or getting to a smaller belt buckle. Celebrate and keep your excitement alive. xoxo
