Yesterday at church we were singing Break Every Chain which is such an incredible song. The lyrics are simple but so powerful:
There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain.
There's an army rising up to break every chain.
All sufficient sacrifice so freely given; such a price for our redemption, heaven's gates swing wide.
While we were singing, I was praying for God to break the chains of addiction, guilt and shame that have held me down for so many years. Then He showed me something amazing.
I saw myself sitting in a dungeon in a cell praying for God to rescue me. My eyes were closed and I was crying and begging for freedom. Jesus spoke to me, "You are already free, just stand up and walk out the door." I opened my eyes and I wasn't chained down; the door to my cell standing wide open. I ran out into the arms of Jesus; into freedom. See, I was praying for rescue when Jesus' sacrifice had already provided it. All I needed to do was to walk out the door of my prison. I think many of us are praying for God to break chains in our lives when He's already done it. But we are still sitting in our prisons. The enemy wants us to believe we aren't free and he uses lies to keep us from walking out in liberty.
Right now, will you stand up? Will you walk out of your prison and into the freedom Jesus is offering?
